A practically silent motor and sizeable water capacity
make this ice maker a standout choice.

v What We Don't Like
·
Big and bulky, the Luma isn't the most
attractive countertop kitchen tool and doesn't include a clear window to view
the ice. Slightly bulky
We love this ice maker because it produces very clear,
restaurant-quality ice. The machine has a 10-cup water capacity, which yielded
the highest output per hour out of all the ice makers we tested (though it did
take a while), and the noise level was silent. We also liked that the machine
isn't obtrusively branded.
The unit has push-button controls and an LED display, and it alerts you
to let you know when the ice collector is full or water is low. It's fairly big
and bulky—not massive to the point where a fridge with an ice maker is a better
option, but if you have a small kitchen, this machine may need a designated
space other than your countertop. It requires no installation and comes with a
scoop, owner's manual, and a one-year warranty. It's not the most
budget-friendly option, but it's worth the money.
GE profile Best Nugget Countertop Ice maker V2
v
Ice shape: Nugget | Height: 16.5
inches | Weight: 38 pounds | Yield: 27
pounds of ice per 24 hours
Pros
- This
machine has the largest reservoir thanks to the side tank, and it is also
the nicest-looking ice maker we tested.
Cons
- This
machine requires semi-frequent cleaning and filtered water to run
smoothly. It's also the most expensive option on our list
·
Some might feel the cost-to-use ratio here is a
little off balance, but hear us out: The quality of this tiny, crunchy nugget
ice is unmatched for a home ice maker. And the addition of the side tank makes
this the largest total reservoir of any machine we tried. The smart functions
make it possible to schedule ice production, so it's not working all day and
night, and it's fast. So if you decide you want nugget ice on a whim, it's
available by the scoopful within 30 minutes.
·
If you're on the
hunt for a high-tech kitchen gift for a home cook, this was one of the best ice
makers we tested. This machine has three UV light settings so you can dim or
brighten the viewing window and protect against bacteria growth throughout use.
The cleaning setting is super easy to use, and the machine is quiet while
running, save for the pitter-patter of those nuggets being made. Nothing about
this machine looks utilitarian. It's sleek and comes in both stainless and
black stainless finishes. There are a few things to note with this investment
machine. You'll want to keep it close to a sink or on a wet bar so it's easy to
drain after the cleaning process. The unit is big and heavy, so it's not a
particularly portable tool.
A best classic countertop Ice maker machine
v Pros
It makes fast ice all the time I recommend. quick efficient easy.
v Magic Chef Portable Countertop Ice Maker, Small Ice
Maker for Kitchen or Home Bar, Tabletop Ice Maker for Parties, 27-Pound
Capacity, Stainless Steel
v Similar to
other standard countertop ice makers, the Magic Chef MCIM22/HNIM27 makes
nine bullet-shaped cubes every eight minutes. Within a half hour, you’ll have
enough ice to chill a few drinks.
v Although the
cloudy bullets aren’t exactly gourmet ice, they chill your drinks, and that’s
good enough for most people.
v The
reservoir holds enough water to make ice continuously for a few hours at a
time, so you don’t have to watch it too closely for refills. (Like with all of
these machines, however, the bullets will melt if left in the unrefrigerated
storage basket.)
v Though many
of the ice makers we tested showed streaks on their stainless-steel finishes,
this model showed them more prominently.
v The Magic
Chef ice maker is generally in stock. And if you purchase it through Home Depot or Walmart, in-store
returns should be easy, which is a plus.

vlucky countertop ice maker machine.
Pros
- This
tiny-but-mighty machine is an attractive option for a countertop.
Cons
- The
capacity is not as sizable compared to large ice makers.
If you find yourself fresh out of ice, this compact automatic
ice machine can give you nine cubes in six to eight minutes. It produces small
or large cubes relatively quickly, and although we wished each batch dropped a
few more, compromising on capacity may be worth it if you're looking for a
tiny, efficient option. It's also light enough to move around depending on
where you need ice and fits on any countertop. Overall, we were impressed with
the machine's performance, capacity, and portability, given its small
footprint.
